About
Our Founder - Jane Benson-Cole
Interior design has been part of who I am for as long as I can remember. Whilst I can’t point to a single moment that started it all, I knew this was what I wanted to do from an early age. I have been an interior designer now for over 35 years and I still find it exciting, meaningful and incredibly gratifying.
I believe that interior design is as much about people as it is about spaces. I love meeting clients, listening to their ideas and understanding the life they want to create at home.
It’s extremely rewarding taking those conversations and turning them into something tangible environments that not only meet their needs but often exceed their expectations.
Working closely with architects, builders, other professionals, suppliers and specialists we share ideas, solve problems together and often have a laugh along the way. Beyond the design work, it’s the relationships that build a solid structure and contribute towards a project running smoothly, making the work feel not only fulfilling, but genuinely enjoyable.
In recent years, my focus has evolved to reflect what matters most to me.
I am deeply committed to working in a way that protects the environment and respects the natural world. To me sustainability should be an essential part of every project.
I have a growing list of suppliers and collaborators who share this ethos, prioritising materials and processes that reduce waste, conserve resources and support responsible production. I’m passionate about bringing a greater level of commitment into residential interiors, where there is still so much opportunity for change.
Ultimately, what drives me is creating something that truly works for my clients, for the people who use the space and for the wider world around us.
When a client sees their finished home and feels delighted, comfortable and understood, that’s when I know I’ve done my job. And that sense of fulfilment is what continues to inspire me every day.
Services
Comprehensive design services or a simple refresh
Our project scope is broad and ranges from a single room to a full refurbishment or new build. Much of our work comes from repeat clients who return to us as their needs evolve whether upsizing, downsizing or creating second homes.
We have a speciality in designing bespoke cabinetry and furniture for you which we particularly enjoy. A range that includes storage units, TV units, wardrobes, libraries, kitchens and smaller pieces which are beautifully made by our skilled cabinet makers.
We often use specialist artisans to produce unique finishes and pieces that contribute to the individuality of your project.
We offer a Full Interior Design Service For complete refurbishments and new build projects. We work closely with you, the architects, consultants and contractors providing comprehensive design work for every aspect of the interior design requirements including kitchens, bathrooms and lighting design. We source and specify all materials, surfaces, finishes, furniture, soft furnishings including window treatments, lighting, artwork and accessories and provide supporting paperwork for you and the project team.
We also offer a Refresh Interior Design Service for a room or small selection of rooms that are not changing structurally but simply need an update, refresh or change. We provide design drawings if necessary and source and specify all materials needed.
In both services all specified products are listed on a schedule for you with prices and delivery dates so that you can keep abreast of the costs and timelines.
We co-ordinate the delivery and installation of all fittings and furniture so that everything is introduced in the correct sequence, avoiding any clashes between trades and ensuring a more efficient completion for you.
Process
A clear and collaborative process
A successful interior project depends on clarity, communication and careful planning. The studio follows a structured yet flexible process, ensuring each stage is thoughtfully managed from initial briefing through to completion, allowing clients to feel informed and confident throughout.

Every project begins with a meeting with you where we will talk about your property, ideas, budget and timelines. This stage establishes a clear brief and ensures a shared understanding of your aspirations, architectural considerations and the scope of our work from which we can write up the brief and send you our fee proposal.
For large or small projects this process is the same but on a different scale. Following our engagement on the project and acceptance of the brief the first stage is to produce a concept design. This defines the fundamental aesthetic and sets the foundation for the successful design going forward. It includes spatial planning, mood direction and preliminary material selections which are all discussed in a meeting with you. This is when changes and developments can be made. From this we draw up the detailed designs and produce the material specification.
For projects involving architects we believe that our early collaboration with them, preferably before the planning, stage is key. By ensuring that the general plans work practically, consulting on bathroom and kitchen plans, adding furniture layouts and lighting designs, we support the architects work whilst helping to create a cohesive package for planning submission. This approach also minimizes the need to make changes later-on which can be difficult and costly.
We then continue to work closely with them and contractors to co-ordinate and interface our work with theirs which means that the implementation progresses smoothly.
On larger projects there will be a project manager appointed by the architects but for these and also Refresh Interior Design Service we provide design oversite throughout the implementation phase, conducting site visits and reviewing workmanship to ensure the design is realised accurately. This continued involvement helps safeguard quality and ensures the finished interior reflects the original vision.
