This Victorian house in north London has been our client’s family home for many years. After considering an update for some time, they finally took the plunge, beginning with the kitchen and dining area. The existing kitchen and adjacent sitting room were opened-up to form a single, light-filled space.
We designed a flexible lighting scheme to suit different moods, bright and functional for cooking, or soft and atmospheric for dining and entertaining.
The kitchen uses a fresh, natural palette, with soft light-green cabinetry, aged brass hardware and striking hand-painted Wayne Pate tiles as a splashback. In contrast, the sitting and TV area shifts to a richer tone, with deep emerald shelving and warm orange seating, creating a cosy, inviting snug. The space is unified by a practical oak-effect, chevron, porcelain floor and brought to life by the client’s existing, cheerfully coloured glass pendant lights. The result is a welcoming room that invites you in. A space designed for cooking, dining and relaxing alike.
